A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Amanda immigrated to Canada with her family in 2008. Starting over in a new country posed its challenges, and Amanda had to decide to pursue a second career. She returned to school and successfully obtained her Paralegal Diploma with Honours, thereafter securing her Paralegal licence in 2012 through the newly named Law Society of Ontario.
Over the years, Amanda has worked as a Litigation Paralegal and gained a significant amount of administrative and courtroom experience in Small Claims, Provincial Offences and Landlord and Tenant matters. She opened her part-time legal services business in May 2019 and now offers after-work notary and commissioning and affidavit drafting services to individuals in the community. Ghostwriting services are also available for the drafting of legal documents, on a case-by-case basis.
Amanda is an advocate for the Caribbean and Black community and volunteers with the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (CCAWR). Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors and is also a member of the organization's Scholarship Committee.
Amanda lives in Kitchener, ON and is also an educator here in Ontario.
She maintains a deep interest in education, writing, and promoting empowerment. You can follow her on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Amanda J Edwin aims to provide professional and affordable notary services that are founded on honesty, reliability and integrity.
Amanda Edwin, Paralegal & Notary Public, respectfully acknowledges that we are situated near the Huron Natural Area and surroundings which are the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee (Ho-deh-no-show-nee), Anishinaabe (Ah-ni-shin-nah-bay) and Neutral People. We acknowledge and give thanks for the enduring presence of these Indigenous communities with whom we share this land today, their achievements and their contributions to our community. We also acknowledge and give thanks for the rivers that run through this land, the trees, the food they provided, and the beauty they still offer. Miigwech!
We seek to always promote the truth, work towards reconciliation, and ensure that Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing are considered in the work that we do. We offer this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of Canada. In 2015, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission released a document offering 94 'Calls to Action' to advance the process of Canadian reconciliation. We encourage you to become familiar with the document.
